Project Details
Working directly with the client, Merlin Power was tasked with designing, supplying, and installing a bespoke electrical power system to operate the specialist trailer-mounted cattle crush. The system needed to deliver reliable power for all moving components and controls, while being robust enough for daily use in a farm environment.
The Challenge
The client required a reliable power solution to sustain the CCTV van's surveillance equipment while stationary. This was an issue as split charging, which typically relies on the vehicle's engine to run and charge auxiliary batteries, was not a viable option due to the long periods of inactivity expected.
The Solution
Merlin Power developed a custom electrical system optimised for agricultural use and mobile deployment. Using 3D visualisation tools, the design was refined in close collaboration with the client, allowing for clear visibility and sign-off at each stage. The final system included:
- 2 x Fullriver DC Series 12V 260Ah (DC260-12)
- 1 x SmartGauge
- 1 x Powersine Combi 3500-24-70
- 1 x TBS Universal Remote Control
- 1 x RCD +2 MCD Consumer Unit
The system was assembled and installed on-site, delivering a fully integrated power solution tailored to the customer’s exact needs.
The Outcome
The custom-built electrical system has enabled reliable, self-sufficient operation of the mobile cattle crush—supporting safe and efficient livestock handling across the farm. The unit is now in regular use, delivering robust performance in the field and reducing downtime.
